Updating your firm's account and contact details

Working on a laptop to update firm account and contact details

Your firm's account details sit behind a lot of everyday work, from the name on your invoices to the address your client emails come from. Keeping them accurate saves confusion later.

What these details cover

There are two layers to keep in mind. Firm-wide details describe your practice: the firm name, logo, business address, phone number, the email address your outgoing messages are sent from, currency, taxes, and business hours. Then there are your personal account details: your own name, work email, and sign-in settings. Firm-wide details usually appear to clients, so they are worth getting right and keeping current.

Update your firm's details

  1. Open your firm settings. These company-level details live under Settings, in the Admin section of the sidebar, and are managed by an administrator.
  2. Edit the details that changed. Update the firm name, address, phone number, or logo as needed. These feed into documents and the client experience.
  3. Check the sending email address. Make sure the address your firm sends from is one you control and monitor, since clients reply to it.
  4. Save. Your changes take effect across the areas that use them, such as invoices and client-facing pages.
📌

Changing the firm name or logo can flow through to invoices, letters, and the Client portal. It is worth glancing at one of each afterward to confirm everything looks the way you expect.

Update your own account

Your personal profile is separate from the firm's details. From your own account settings you can update your display name, correct your work email, change your password, and manage two-factor authentication. Keep your work email accurate, because it is where account and security notices are sent, and a stale address means you miss messages that matter.

⚠️

Take extra care when changing the primary email tied to your account or the firm's billing contact. These addresses are used for account recovery and important notices, so an out-of-date one can lock you out at the worst moment.

Keep contact details current

Details drift over time. A firm moves office, a phone number changes, or a staff member updates their surname. A quick review once or twice a year keeps everything consistent across your invoices, letters, and client communications. It is a small task that prevents a client receiving mail at an old address or replying to an inbox nobody reads.

💡

When a person's role or contact details change, update them in the same sitting as their access. Keeping their profile, their permissions, and the firm's records aligned avoids small mismatches that are annoying to untangle later.
