Posting a role and sharing the job board

A hiring team reviewing an open role together before it is posted to the job board

Hiring gives your firm one central place for applications. Post the role on your job board and every application arrives in Hiring as its own candidate record, with nothing stored in an inbox or a separate spreadsheet.

How posting works

Roles are advertised on an external job board (for example a legal careers board) and that board sends each application straight into your firm's Hiring workspace. You do not have to check the board by hand. When someone applies, their details arrive here on their own and appear in the candidate list.

The connection has two parts: the Webhook URL, which is where applications are sent, and a secret key for each site you connect. The URL is the same for your firm; each connected site gets its own key, so you can add more than one job board and tell their applications apart.

Connect your job board

  1. Open Hiring settings. From the Hiring workspace, open Settings. At the top you will see the Webhook URL, which is where every job board sends applications for your firm.
  2. Copy the Webhook URL. Use the copy button next to it so you get the exact value.
  3. Add the site under Connected sites. Give the board a short name (for example the board's name) and add it. A secret key is created for that site straight away.
  4. Copy that site's secret key. The board sends this key with every application so your firm can confirm the message is genuine. It travels in a header named X-Accurecruit-Secret.
  5. Paste both into your job board. Add the Webhook URL and the secret to the board's application or webhook setup, then post your role there as usual.
📋

Each connected site has its own key. Because the key identifies the sender, applications from one board can never be mistaken for another, and you can remove a single site later without affecting the rest.

Keep hiring stages in step (optional)

If your job board can take stage updates back, paste its Stage sync URL into that site's row under Connected sites. From then on, when you move a candidate to a new stage here, the board is updated too, so both sides show the same progress. You can leave this blank if you only want applications to flow one way, into your firm.

Keep applications reaching the right people

You can set a notification email address in Hiring settings. When it is filled in, a note goes to that address as new candidates arrive, so whoever runs your hiring sees them without living in the workspace. Leave it empty and notifications stay off.

If you ever need to reset a key

If a site's secret key is shared too widely or you simply want to rotate it, use the option to create a new key for that site. A fresh key is created at once, and the old one stops working. Remember to paste the new key back into that job board, otherwise its new applications will be turned away.

⚠️

A new key takes effect immediately. Update that job board with the new key right away so applications keep coming through.

What to expect once a role is live

After the role is posted and the connection is in place, applications arrive on their own. Each one becomes a candidate record with the applicant's name, contact details, the role they applied for, a link to their resume, and the date they applied. From there you review and move them along, which is covered in the next article.

💡

Set up the connection once, before you advertise. With the address and secret in place first, the very first application to your new posting flows straight into Hiring.
