Collecting information with forms

Custom Forms lets you build your own forms and send them out, so intake details, updates, and questionnaires come back typed and structured instead of scattered across emails.

How it works

  1. Create the form. Go to Forms, then Form Builder, and click New Form.
  2. Choose what it connects to. A form can feed Leads, Customers, or Tickets, so submissions land against the right record, or it can stand alone.
  3. Set who can see it. A form can be public, open to customers (all of them or specific ones), or restricted to staff.

Filling it in

Clients find their forms under Form Requests in the portal. A form with several pages moves with Next and Prev and finishes with Submit. A single page form checks its required fields when it is submitted, so nothing incomplete slips through.

Reading the responses

Responses land in the responses view, split into Completed and Partial tabs. The split means a half finished form is never lost: you can see exactly who started and stopped, and follow up before the details go stale. Any response can be exported with Download as PDF when you need a copy for the file or for someone outside the system.

💡

The Partial tab also tells you something about the form itself. If people keep stopping at the same question, that question probably needs rewording, or cutting.

Forms tied to a matter

When you need a form filled for one specific matter, generate a matter bound link for it. The link is signed, so the submission automatically carries the matter and client context with it. The person filling it in just sees a normal form; you get a response that files itself against the right matter and client with nothing to match up afterwards.

💡

Custom Forms is for gathering information, not for producing documents. To generate letters and evidence packages from a matter, see the article on creating documents from a matter.
